About Fritz Schneider foundation
The Fritz Schneider Youth and Trombone Work Foundation is a legally registered trust in Botswana, established under *Section 7(1) of the* *Trust and Property Control Act No. 11 of 2025 (Trust No. TUHGB - 000169 - 24).*
*Founded by former* *members* of the Youth and Trombone Work music group in Ramatea, Kanye, the Foundation is named in honor of Fritz Schneider, a missionary, musician, and visionary leader who dedicated his life to youth development and music ministry in Botswana.
*Our Inspiration*
Fritz Schneider arrived in Botswana in the 1973 after serving in Namibia. Through his passion for brass music and youth empowerment, he founded and coordinated the Lutheran Development Association in Botswana, where he became the first Treasurer and Coordinator.
He brought together young people from Kanye, Gaborone, Sehithwa, and Ramotswa to form the Ramatea Brass Band in the early 1980s, creating opportunities for countless youth to travel, learn, and grow through music. Under his leadership, young people:
*Performed across Africa* *and abroad,* including in Germany, England, Namibia, South Africa, and Tanzania.
Secured scholarships to study in diverse fields such as social work, engineering, and as instrument technicians.
Found employment as professional musicians in the Botswana Defence Force Band, Police Band, Prisons Band, and other institutions.
Received vocational training as artisans, plumbers, and electricians.
Fritz Schneider welcomed all youth—regardless of religious affiliation—and inspired many to join church communities through music and fellowship. His work changed lives, built futures, and created a legacy of hope and opportunity.
*Our Mission*
After his passing in 2009, much of this legacy faded due to lack of support. Today, his vision lives on through the Foundation, spearheaded by his son Jörg Schneider and the former members of Ramatea Brass and Marimba Band.
*The Foundation’s* *mission is to:*
*Empower youth through* music – providing training, mentorship, and opportunities to perform.
*Promote academic* *excellence* – supporting young people in their educational and vocational journeys.
*Enhance spiritual growth* – nurturing faith and values through Bible studies, camps, and fellowship.
*Provide safe platforms* for youth – offering music camps, mentorship programs, and activities that keep young people engaged, creative, and inspired.
*Unite former members* – bringing together past members of Ramatea Brass and Marimba Band to continue Fritz Schneider’s legacy of service and music.
*Continuing the Legacy*
The Fritz Schneider Youth and Trombone Work Foundation is more than just an organization—it is a living tribute to a man who dedicated his life to uplifting youth and strengthening communities through music. By reviving his vision, we strive to build a future where every young person has access to mentorship, education, and the transformative power of music.
